For the curious, this is an Ampex 2000-series reel to reel tape recorder from circa 1964. Moving tape at 7 inches per second, its stereo sound was vastly superior than that of consumer grade cassette tapes which ran at 1 inch per second. (Side note: I say “ran” in the past tense because consumer cassette tapes have absolutely no reason to make a comeback in the year 2023, but that’s a technical rant for another place.)
I walked by this at a flea market and thought the picture might look interesting. I used the iPhone 7 that I had at the time.
