I have no idea what this was or how it ended up in pieces on the ground, but artistic images can be found anywhere. It doesn’t have to be some tourist attraction or somewhere special. There’s always some naysayer that will say “that’s stupid why are you taking a picture of that?!” or “you’re wasting so much film” or “why do you store all that digital junk?!” and those people that think that way completely miss what photography is about.
It’s not about getting that perfect picture of your grandbaby that you want to print a dozen copies of. It’s not about capturing that wedding. Although, it can be, and certainly the people that make up our lives are certainly worthy of pictures. (No, I don’t do weddings. Don’t ever ask me again.)
Photography is about finding beauty in the everyday world around us. It’s the art of creating an image to be seen. Just as musicians write songs for people to listen to, photographers make images to look at. Perhaps profitable, perhaps not. For me, it’s a fulfilling hobby.
Shoot photos, not each other!
